Kuiper Flex: Manual
Kuiper Flex is made at Kuiper Holland in Tubbergen, The Netherlands. We joint and press the veneer on a flexible backing, giving the veneer strong and flexible characteristics. This opens up a wide possibility for applying veneer. This manual explains how you should work with Kuiper Flex.

1. Prepare to apply
Ensure that the surface on which you want to apply the veneer is sanded, completely flat, oil-free, lacquer-free, and free of any other variables that can cause a faulty application. Also, ensure that the temperature and humidity in the area are as constant as possible. Differences in temperature and humidity can cause a defective application of the product.
2. Apply glue
In order to ensure a correct bonding of the glue to the Kuiper Flex, make a test with a sample piece. Depending on the glue used, it might have different effects on the bonding. So be sure to test this before applying the whole sheet of Kuiper Flex.
3. Bad bonding can be caused by:
- Too much or too little glue;
- Ensure that the glue has the right temperature and humidity;
- Prevent big differences in temperature, and make sure that the glue can deal with heat differences;
- if the veneer is not pressed well enough on the surface
- if too much (water-based) lacquer has been applied.
4. Pressing Kuiper Flex
Glue always reacts better under high pressure. So it is very advisable to ensure that a lot of pressure is applied on every part of the Flex. If not done correctly, the veneer might seem to be stuck, but this will develop into issues after a while.
5. Resting of veneer
Every glue type is different, so the setting time differentiates for every situation. Also, humidity and temperature play a part in this. Make sure to let the glue be hardened before applying any other lacquer or colour-grading fluids.
